Let Them Earn Their Keep!

Recently I put myself through a little weaning session. I'm a firm believer in relationships and friendships....but only the ones that are MEANINGFUL. I mean, who seriously wants to be surrounded by fair weather friends and time wasters. What's the point in people taking up space that could be easily occupied by someone else with VALUE. So I asked myself these Simple Questions:

A) Who can you guarantee will be by your side ten years from now when you need them?

B) Are you surrounded by the best support system anyone could ever ask for?

C) If you were in some emergency in desperate need of a kidney, who loves you enough to donate theirs instantly without batting an eyelid?

D) Who is always willing to give you their time, no matter how busy or upset they are?

If you can't answer these questions, you might need to RE-EVALUATE your relationships.

Life isn't just about living for TODAY. We must live it like there's a tomorrow and everyone must have a PURPOSE for being a part of your life. It all comes down to that person who is always Available, Reliable, Loyal, Accessible, Dependable and Trustworthy.

Let people earn their KEEP. No matter who they are...Don't be afraid to CUT off those who add little or no value to your life...And don't be afraid to EMBRACE those you know will do just about anything for you, or have INVESTED way too much in you to give up on you...Let them know you value them because I have learned that relationships can be fickle. Only those who know how to NUTURE them, stay happy.

Alex's Audio Diary 20

Whether you are Happy, Excited, Lonely, Depressed, Angry, Disappointed, Overwhelmed, Exasperated, Horny, Frustrated, Motivated....EXPRESSION is a sign of STRENGTH, not weakness. Yet a lot of the time, people think that someone's ability to share or reveal how they FEEL about any given situation, only exposes how weak they are....When in fact, the ability to express ones EMOTIONS creates better understanding, less confusion and clarity about certain situations irrespective of our expectations. Please LISTEN to my Audio Diary for Today....

Feel free to share your thoughts as always and don't forget to share this audio with others. Have A Magnificent Monday Lovelies! Kisses!

What Do You Stand For?

Though Yesterday was "Humanitarian Day" I know there can never be enough days for kindness in the world, because LOVE is the real REVOLUTION we all truly need. That's why I care about humanity and social advocacy. And though I'm here working tirelessly at the very cosy DE-SANTOS HOTEL a place that has become like a second home because of its first class service and the very warm reception of the staffers as well as the environment....I can't stop thinking about the many questions, one of the friendly front desk ladies, 'Rosemary' asked me.....about the inscription on the Tee-shirt I wore yesterday "STAND UP FOR NEW LAGOS" and how she can join the movement....It had me thinking of one of my favourite lyrics of recent times by Emeli Sande....

"You've got the words to change a Nation....but you're biting your tongue. You've spent a life time stuck in silence afraid you'll say something wrong. If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song. So Come on.....

You've got a heart as loud as lions
So why let your voice be tamed.
Maybe we're a little different
there's no need to be ashamed.

You've got the light to fight the shadows, so stop hiding it away

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream till the words dry out so put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid they can read all about it.

At night we're waking up the neighbours while we sing away the blues making sure that we're remembered... yeah, cause we all matter too. If the truth has been forbidden, then we're breaking all the rules. so come on...

Lets get the TV and the radio
to play our tune again
its 'bout time we got some airplay of our VERSION of events
there's no need to be afraid for
I will sing with you my friend.

Yeah we're all wonderful, wonderful people so when did we all get so fearful? And now we're finally finding our voices....Just take a chance...."

So every time I LISTEN to her song, I'm thinking....If we don't SPEAK then how will our voices be heard....If we don't ACT, then how will change be made....It is with those thoughts that brilliant like-minds within my Creative Industry decided to unite to create the #4NL social platform under the aegis of the #4NN Movement where millions of voices can be heard because we are all united by our collective ZEAL to tackle our collective problems as a people and bring to fore our collective desires for a better working community for us all.

And just like anything worthy, it has taken our time, sweat, resources and even some of our RELATIONSHIPS to become the positive agents of progress and growth we aspire to be....And whilst some may roll their eyes at their own cynicism that this group might be a farce....we all know that's what people thought about the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT or even our terrestrial 'Afenifere' till they started effecting change.

I am tired of the constant complaining, the blame gaming, the character maiming and whatever ill propagandas aiming to DESTROY our development as a community. In the end, the only people who SUFFER the consequences of our indifference, non-challance and  inaction, are we the habitats of the very community we love.

To quote George Bernard Shaw - "PROGRESS is impossible without CHANGE and those who cannot 'change' their MINDS cannot change anything."

So when we say that #4NL is about motivating, advocating and activating a new way of THINKING and CHARACTER....its because we realise that's the only POSITIVE way to achieve the desired result for what it is that we stand for....

So permit me to ask you.... What do you stand for? Cos I know I STAND 4 NEW LAGOS. Feel free to volunteer and join the rest of the amazing #4NL Think-Tank and #4NL Soldiers to sign up for community services and more social awareness projects. CLICK to Visit.

If you stand for nothing....Believe me, you will fall for anything.

Have A Wonderful Wednesday Lovelies! Kisses!

Please Dont Judge Me....

My Dear Lovelies, its been a long time I did a RANT and RAVE....Permit me to use you as my succour, as I set to vent right now. Its been a hectic month filled with lots of activities and engagements that I have rarely found the the time to decongest my thoughts and lash out the best way I know how to relieve myself....using my ink. How many times have you had people complain or compare you to insignificant and undesirable people or circumstances simply because you do things in a respectable and DECENT manner from the norm? They fight you....mock you, antagonise you, even frustrate you....hoping it will somehow DISTRACT you from your goals.

People hate what they don't understand....

You are beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, educated, modest, enterprising, confident, generous, domesticated, kind, passionate, loyal, dependable, spiritual, loving, strong, maybe even expressive...and yet they want you to be apologetic for having some STANDARDS and its a heinous crime. Shioor!

Since when did striving for EXCELLENCE become a bad thing? Ehn? You are not bush enough, not RATCHET or raggedy enough, don't have enough sad stories to tell, not LOW maintenance, can't soak Garri, can't speak pidgin, not throwing enough PITY parties and embarrassing yourself. Kai!

You can't tell jokes...(yes, I know i can't but all the same I have a witty sense of humour and I can laugh damn hard when I'm told a good one). I didn't GROW up in a one bedroom apartment. Yes but I know what it felt like to LOSE a mansion and be homeless. I wasn't raised by a SINGLE parent but I know what it feels like to end up one. Mschewww.....*sigh.

I love to eat Indian basmati rice when I can afford it but I also know what it feels like to be so broke that I can't even afford abakiliki rice. Yes ke! I can't manage.....Ehn! See News.... I'm too uppity. Hian! How do you know that? Biko, Park well joor...Hahahah. I know what it feels like to live like a QUEEN and hustle like a maid. As in err....Don't judge me! Just like you, I'm fighting my own personal DEVILS.

You say I have the world at my feet. I laugh! Do you know how hard, I have to work to nurture my friendships and still keep my INTEGRITY? You say I'm getting attention....Seriously? When you are snoring at night....I'm working my BRAINS off. Abeg, comot for road make I see better joor. I'm sad, you are INTIMIDATED by prospect, intimidated by hard work and mentally clouded by ignorance and envy...but I will no longer suppress my desire to be the BEST I can be, simply because I'm surrounded by those with little information, no values and certainly no DESIRE to serve a better PURPOSE and be the best they also can be. Does it piss me off when I see people hating others because of their achievements? Yep! Does it piss me off when inept people constantly criticise without construction, instead of encouraging. Hell Yeah! When you are busy spreading your hate, remember everyone has their own STORY and their own battles to conquer.

I may not be perfect but I'm an EXTRAORDINARY woman and a rare gem. I didn't create myself, God did... So if you have problems with the quality and depth of a person's SUBSTANCE, then your problem is with God, not them. If you can't emulate positivity....Don't worry, there's a transformer in your neighbourhood. Feel free to give it a warm big hug! Hahahah!

Have A Fantastic Friday Lovelies! Kisses.

FEATURE: The Hedge And Risk Financial Market Report (11)

Here's Today's Hedge And Risk Financial Market Report  For Thursday August 14, 2014....

Nigerian banks have agreed to assist in the payment of N25bn legacy debts owed gas companies by the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria. The banks made this known on Thursday during a meeting of the Bankers’ Committee in Lagos. Industry analysts said the announcement was part of the moves by the banks to recover loans advanced to the power firms carved out of the PHCN during the power sector privatization exercise. The committee said it had realized that lack of adequate gas supply was inhibiting the growth of the power sector. It, therefore, said the decision to help with the payment of the NGN25 billion debt owed the gas companies was because of its commitment to support the gas to power project in order to improve production in the sector.  (Source: Punch)

Money Market

Despite market liquidity levels rising on the back of NGN134.28 billion repaid maturities, interbank lending rates across most tenors (with the exception of the overnight rate which dropped by 89bps to close at 10.92%) by 9bps on the average owing to increased funding requirement driven by Wednesday’s Bond auction.

Fixed Income Market

Trading in the T-bills market was flat as no significant demand or supply was recorded.
Activity levels in the bond market picked up on Thursday driven largely by post-auction sales which pushed yields up. Market yields are expected to edge higher further as post-auction sell-off persists.

The Nigerian Interbank FX Market

The recent trend in the FX inter-bank market reversed and the Naira dipped against the dollar on Thursday as the local currency depreciated significantly by 70 kobo to close trading at NGN162.50/$.

Nigerian Stock Market Report

Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a negative note on Thursday as the NSE All Share Index lost 0.0067% to close at 41,750.38 points from 41,753.19 on Wednesday. The market capitalization also dropped to NGN13.785 trillion from NGN13.786 trillion on Wednesday.

Application for unemployment benefits in the U.S. rose more than forecast last week, interrupting a steady decline to pre-recession lows. Jobless claims climbed by 21,000 to 311,000 in the period ended Aug.9, the highest in six weeks.
In the European region, Germany’s economy shrank in the second quarter and France again managed to conjure up no growth, data showed on Thursday, snuffing out any signs of a recovery in the euro zone which is now weighed down by tit-for-tat sanctions with Russia.

Global Currency Update

The U.K pound traded at $1.6686, down from $1.6688 late Wednesday, after falling on a lackluster report on U.K wage growth that raised the prospect that the central bank would push back the timing of an interest rate increase. The euro dipped to $1.3361 from $1.3366 late Wednesday. The dollar traded at ¥102.52, up from ¥102.42 late Wednesday. The dollar had climbed as high as ¥102.66 during the Japanese trading day.

Commodity Market

U.S oil tumbled by 2% on Thursday, as higher U.S jobless claims and a German economic contraction highlighted weak demand, while supplies are ample despite conflicts in Iraq and Libya.

Gold prices settled modestly higher on Thursday, logging a third straight daily gain, as investors shrugged off a bigger than expected rise in U.S. jobless claims, while conciliatory comments from Russian President Vladimir Putin eased jitters about the Ukraine crisis that had prompted some safe-haven buying bullion.

The Woman He Wants Vs The Woman He Needs....

I remember listening to a good friend confide in me, about his 8 year old RELATIONSHIP with a lady, who to the ordinary eyes, seemed the pretty innocent type.... but in my own opinion was a first grade LEECH with nothing but sufficient talent in the bedroom. So, I'm not surprised where it all ended.

I remember telling him 4 years ago to DATE on his level and let her go,  because I could see past the nice-needy-sex-kitten she was playing up and begged him to choose the other lady who may have been a little strong headed but ready to do RIGHT by him to make him progress. I've always been of the opinion that a lady with no 'disability' who has no actual RESPONSIBILITY (children, aged/sick parents or younger siblings) but has too many 'financial' problems and desires, is a LIABILITY not an ASSET and an obstacle to progress (abi I lie?).

Of course, he kept the other hard-working lady as his 'back pocket girl' for a little while.....yet complaining she was bossy and MANIPULATIVE whilst still using her and treating her like crap, but had somehow managed to let great SEX with 'Miss Leech' trick his heart to thinking he was more in love with her, after all she made him feel like a man. And what He wanted was the leech who made him "feel" like a man but not 'Madam Bossy' who was actually trying to "make" him into a REAL man.

Even though I thought My friend benefited more in 2 years from bossy than he did in 8 years with leech. I could sense her deep genuine LOVE for him, But he was too blind and too weak to see the difference, and too stubborn to listen to those who did on his behalf. Completely broke and now infected with HIV, Leech has disappeared for greener pastures with another man....While Head-strong Bossy is the one back now taking care, nursing and loving him like he never hurt her severally. The great 'sex' with Leech was what he WANTED and the 'love' from bossy was what he NEEDED.... but he never understood that "Need" will alway surpass "want".

I let my friend know that the easy way isn't always the safe way irrespective of how STRESS-FREE a person might want their relationships to be. A girl gives a man what he wants but makes him EARN what he needs, while A Woman gives a Man what he needs, but makes him EARN what he wants...But the problem is that, most men can't even tell the big difference. The true value in a woman isn't in how she treats you in the bedroom, but how she treats you every where else, even when she has good reason to act otherwise. And to find a woman with real SUBSTANCE, not the illusion a man has created in his head....

One must avoid women who want you to spend on them. Embrace the woman who wants you to INVEST in her. Discern the one who's more interested in an Upgrade versus the one who's only concerned about true Substance. A Woman has to first be INDEPENDENT, to be able to enjoy and manage Interdependence with you, because not every Woman who is by your side, will truly be on your side. Different people come into our lives for the wrong reasons. That's why, Its not enough that someone is in your life. Figure out why they are there because its rarely for only your interest. Avoid any woman who accepts you the way you are, because most women who truly care, want their men to GROW into a better, greater person. Its not enough for her to just say so...She has to be a guide, an asset in every way possible and contribute to nurturing his EVOLUTION.

Embrace the woman who looks for many ways to bring you JOY, not the ones who only bring themselves. Don't be LAZY in choosing RIGHT...Remember nothing good comes easy. Yes, she may be tough, stubborn, a little too hard on you. But take a deep look at yourself and you may see the reason why she NEEDS to be that way. A relationship can never survive if the two people in it are both weak... A Good woman of substance is hard to come by and maybe a little complex to manage at the beginning, but in the end...She will always be well WORTH it and you will be glad you have her in your life!

Have A Terrific Tuesday Lovelies! Kisses!

FEATURE: The Hedge And Risk Financial Market Report (10)

Hey Lovelies! Still worrying about your investments and finance? Well get your fix of Today's sponsored feature, The Hedge And Risk Financial Market Report For  Friday August 8, 2014....

The Federal Government is set to produce gas that will generate at least 2000 megawatts (Mw) of power to boost electricity supply. The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, an industry operator said, is monitoring various gas infrastructure projects to ensure they are completed on record and put into operation to increase power supply by over 50 per cent. Mrs. Alison-Madueke, the source explained, has directed stakeholders handling various gas projects to expedite action to bring them on stream before long. “The government is working to consolidate on the gas supply expansion with an additional 500 million standard cubic feet per day of gas (mmscf/d), to support about 2000mw of power generation,” the minister said. (Source: The Nation)

Money Market

With system liquidity still healthy despite settlement for Wednesday’s RDAS, NIBOR trended downwards across most maturities with the Overnight rate falling 8bps to 10.88%.
Fixed Income Market

Whilst system liquidity remained supportive of further demand, the T-Bill market sustained the positive momentum as further gains were recorded on traded maturities though on a milder note. With the short end of the curve still receiving the most attention given its current attractiveness relative to the longer end. We note decent gains on the short end of the yield curve following renewed demand on some maturities. Thus, we anticipate the T-Bills market will be susceptible to profit taking at the start of next week.

Sentiments were equally positive in the bond market following a series of tepid trading sessions since the start of the week. At the Monthly Bond Auction scheduled to hold Wednesday, 13th August, the Debt Management Office (DMO) would be offering NGN100 billion across 13.05% FGN AUG 2016, 14.20% FGN MAR 2024 and 12.493% FGN JUL 2034 instruments (all re-opening). We expect stop rates to hover between levels of 11.00%-12.30%.

The Nigerian Interbank FX Market

At the FX interbank market, more bullishness was on show as the USD/NGN appreciated by 10 kobo to close at NGN162.80/$.

Nigerian Stock Market Report

Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a negative note on Friday, as the NSE All Share Index lost 0.03% to close at 42,598.46 points from 42,612.33 on Thursday. The market capitalization also dipped to NGN14.066 trillion from NGN14.070 trillion on Thursday.

The Pentagon on Friday said that U.S. jet fighters hit Islamic State artillery positions in northern Iraq on Friday, the first of what is expected to be a series of American strikes meant to halt the Sunni extremist advance on the Kurdish capital of Erbil. The strikes were the first since President Barack Obama authorized U.S. military action to target Islamic State forces advancing on Erbil, where the U.S. has diplomatic and military personnel aiding the Kurds. The U.S. has considered airstrikes before in Iraq, but backed down as the advance by Sunni militants slowed and the threat against Baghdad seemed to diminish. But the extremists have renewed their push in recent days, this time against Kurdish controlled territories.

Global Currency Update

The euro fell against the dollar Thursday morning after European Central Bank President Mario Draghi said monetary policy in the euro zone and the U.S. is on a “diverging path,” and that real interest rates would remain negative for much longer in Europe. The euro traded at $1.3357 on Thursday, down from $1.3380 late Wednesday. In other currency pairs, the British pound weakened against the greenback, closing at $1.6828 compared to Wednesday’s close of $1.6853. The dollar slipped marginally to ¥102.14 from ¥102.15 late Wednesday.

Commodity Market

Brent crude oil fell below $105 a barrel in whipsaw trading on Friday, following U.S. air strikes in Iraq that analysts said might lower the risk of oil supply disruptions from OPEC's second-largest producer.

Gold rejected a 3-1/2 week high on Friday, settling lower fort the session, but in managed to log a weekly gain of more than 1 percent for the week as the dollar fell and equities rallied after reports of reduced tensions in the Russian-Ukraine situation.
