It's Wednesday, so I love to talk and you all know I'm a sucker for super intelligent minds. And yes, I love to Celebrate Women building their PURPOSE and doing amazing things too...Its makes me feel like I'm not a alone especially in the world of EXPRESSION. Well, My Wednesday Woman Crush started out as an OAP for Cool fm radio in Nigeria and then went to become the lead female singer of the defunct musical girl group EMETE.....before moving on to become a solo artist and one of the brand pioneers for GIRL POWER. An enchanting Actress, Singer, Writer and the producer of the movie "Journey To Self" and did I mention she's been a Celebrity Guest Post Author on this blog (you can read her post THE WAY TO A WOMAN'S HEART) ....I recently stumbled on her new blog ASHIONYE ONLINE and I'm super excited that she's taking her writing to a different platform and sharing her thoughts with the world. Despite the fact that I know a little bit about Ash (we both worked on Tinsel and had kids a month apart...and we both seem to enjoy different forms of Art)...Talk about a kindred spirit...Soul sister...Hahahah...Anyway, I'm always eager to learn more about people I admire and so I decided to throw 22 questions her way .
The Sensational, Ashionye Michelle Raccah shares a bit about her world in this interesting conversation and I thought It would be cool to share it with you all. Here's "The Wonderful World Of Ashionye....From Girl Power to Mind Power." Enjoy!
1) I know you love movies...So apart from movies, What other forms of the art, do you like and why?
ANS: Music! You could call it my religion. It has always been a part of me. I grew up in a home filled with music. My dad had us (his children) listening to the likes of Kenny Rogers, Shalamar, Marvin Gaye, Kool & The Gang, Onyeka Onwenu.
2) What's the #1 most played song on your playlist?
ANS: That would be 'I heard it through the grapevine' by Marvin Gaye. It never grows old.
3) Speaking of Musings and Motivation....Can you mention one of your favourite quotes?
ANS: "You only live once."
4) What part of your body is your favourite body part?
ANS: My face... and my legs.
LET'S TALK WHAT IFS?......
5) If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
ANS: Fly a plane.
6) If you had to work on only one project for the next year what would it be?
ANS: Maybe not for a year but I would love to be a part of a peace mission someday.
7) If you could pick anyone as your mentor who would it be and why?
ANS: Oprah Winfrey. Against all odds she kept on even when people tried to put her down. Today, she owns a media dynasty and has touched millions of lives too.
8) If you could be any fictional character in a movie, who would you choose?
ANS: Wonder Woman
9) If you could change something about yourself or your life what would it be?
ANS: Honestly, I would not change anything. I am beautifully and wonderfully made. The lessons and experiences I have gained have moulded me into the woman I am today.
LET'S TALK PERSONAL....
10) Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
11) What would you name the autobiography of your life?
Ans: Wonderful world of me - The 'Ashionye Michelle Raccah' diary.
12) If you were to cast yourself in a movie.....Who would you love to cast as your love interest?
Ans: Hugh Jackman, Gerard Butler or Will Smith. Hey! You asked!
13) What's the best worst/gift you have ever given and received?
ASH: When it comes to gifts it's the thought that counts.
14) What has been happening to your music career lately?
ANS: I have a new found passion for film making and I have been working on that. I'm actually in the process of producing my next feature film. I still love music and have begun working on a new album. I recently recorded three new songs, totally different from what people identified me with in the past.
15) What medium do you prefer as an Actor....TV, Movies or Theater?
ANS: All three mediums provide different advantages, challenges and processes. I have been privileged to showcase myself as an actor on all three and I would not pick one over the other.
16) How's marriage and motherhood treating you 5 years on?
ANS: Fantastic! Being a wife and mother has taught me so many things including patience, selflessness. My son has brought so much joy in my life and my husband has been my backbone from the first day we met. I couldn't ask for a better life.
17) What are the challenges of being a working mother?
ANS: For me family comes first. So as a working mother, I try to plan my schedule around my family. They have been time I turned down a few jobs because they clashed with certain family commitments.
18) I know that Style is a personal thing.....Please define yours.
Ans: Honestly, I can't define my style. I just wear whatever I feel comfortable in. I wear a lot of jeans so you could call me a casual chic.
19) You recently stepped into the producers box with your own feature film 'Journey To Self'....What has been highlights of producing this film?
Ans: There have been loads of highlights since scripting and producing 'Journey To Self'. So far, we have received many nominations and three awards. Journey To Self was also recently selected and screened at movie festivals outside Nigeria. I'm grateful that my first feature production has gotten so much recognition and things can only get better.
20) What's your take on Nigeria at the moment?
ANS: We need peace and love. So many unfortunate things are happening in our beloved country. Things I believe could have been curbed if only steps had been taken at the right times. Some of the Chibok girls are still missing and everyday we wake up to the news of kidnapping, bombing and loss of innocent lives. It's about time our leaders did the necessary. Sitting back and wishing things or situations away never proffered a solution.
21) How did you start writing?
ANS: I have always loved writing. I started off writing teen novels and comic books. As a young girl, I guess I needed a way to express myself creatively. I still have them; 2 novels and 3 comic books. They were never published though. Maybe I should look into that.
22) What do you hope to achieve with your blog Ashionye online?
ANS: ASHIONYEONLINE is something I had always wanted to do but never really had the time. I finally decided to get to it and make the blog about motherhood, parenthood, family and relationships mostly from my perspective. I am still getting a hang of it and working towards making posts regular. Starting this month, I will be introducing a weekly medical segment to the blog called, 'ASK DR. P'. It will feature posts by a medical practitioner, Dr. Akinwande Puddicombe on various medical issues/topics. I am hoping ASHIONYEONLINE helps individuals in any little way.
